We just returned from attending the 23 Annual Bayfront Bluesfest in Duluth, MN. What a great event! The festival is held on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior. If you've never been to Duluth, it's one of the most beautiful places in northern Minnesota. There is nowhere else where you can be sitting in your lawn chair listening to music while 1,000 foot freighters go by or where boaters can anchor along the shoreline and listen to the music at no charge.
The three day event features National, Regional and Local talent. It's always great to see some new up and coming talent. This year we saw a 12 year old phenomenal guitar player, Quinn Sullivan, who rocked the crowd. We also saw our first girl band, Girls With Guitars, three early 20's women who could wale on their guitars. Although it wasn't blues, they finished their set with AC/DC Hells Bells and the crowd went wild.
The crows was a mixture of young and old, mostly leaning to the slightly older crowd. In out 22 years of attending, we see many of the same people year after year. There is never any trouble. Just people coming together to hear great music.
Bayfront Bluesfest is the birthplace of Persper-eez Breast Sweat Pads. It was after attending this event for many years and seeing women on hot summer days - yes, it does get hot in northern Minnesota and noticing sweat collection on the front of women's shirts. We realized there was a need for a product to help women stay dry in excessive heat.
It's always sad when the festival is over. We know the end of summer is near.
